Ambedo Media

Ambedo Media is a new video production company based in Zagreb, Croatia that offers a wide range of services to its clients. From professional corporate videos to contemporary and classical art showcases, the creatives behind the work offer unique viewing experiences for whatever needs you and your project may have. ​​​​​​​​​​​​​​These two primary industries were the initial guideline for the creation of the identity. Reduced down to the simplest geometric pair, a circle (the creative side) and a square (the corporate side), or in this case “a” and “M”.
 
This is how that idea evolved.

For several years, Tomislav Felbar worked as a freelancer and a member of his family business in his hometown. Having gained valuable work experience, he wanted to expand his horizons and business opportunities. This is when Ambedo Media was born. His vision was to create a video production agency that would create premium video products for large scale businesses, but also contemporary artists. Two very different client bases that needed to be equally represented within his brands’ communication.

THE PROCESS

Through discovery and research sessions I gathered key takeaways for the brands’ tone of voice:
  • Serious
  • Striking
  • Unconventional
These guiding points served towards the creation of the initial style board concepts. After the final style was chosen, I began creating the first drafts and sketches for the logo mark and logotype.

THE "aM" Mark

The aM mark was born from the idea of the two very different, yet equally important sides. I decided it would be best to reduce this abstract idea into simple geometric forms, a circle, and a rectangle. These forms would later be used within communications to highlight artists (circles) and corporations (rectangles).

COMMUNICATIONS

„My clients tend to be surprised by the number of details I can find in their event. In a way, I feel I offer them a different perspective which highlights their strengths.“ This was something Tomislav said in a meeting very early on, and I had no clue on how to highlight this delight and surprise within communication elements. I was dead sure that Ambedo needed more „design elements“ to achieve this, and I did try to make some new things work (experimenting with illustrations and photography), but nothing did.

So I went back to the initial style guides and decided to break it down to its basest typographic elements. This was what I was looking for. Using straightforward large typography that would highlight only a short tagline I played with the colors and layout to create double meanings that directly interact with both a clients’ professional and personal needs.

WRAP-UP

Ambedo Media represents the largest caliber project I have worked on to date. It was an immense pleasure to help my brother with his new business venture. I believe that to build a proper brand and create an identity that evokes emotion takes time. It needs to grow through the work the company does and how the audience interacts with it. I was able to create the starting point for this evolution and I’m looking forward to seeing Ambedo grow.
